ABOUT PBR GLOBAL CUP
PBR Global Cup is the ultimate expression of national pride in professional bull riding, and the sport’s most important international competition.
It transforms what is otherwise an individual sport into a TEAM endeavor. A band of brothers under one country’s flag come together battling to capture the host nation’s dirt. The new tournament has already produced the fiercest, most passionate and dramatic bull riding action our sport has ever seen.
The five-nation competition featuring the world’s best bull riders and bulls, is a high-stakes tournament featuring top athletes from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and the United States, including an all-Native American team. Together they battle for national pride, representing their respective nations.
Teams will vie for the very element on which they compete –the dirt that will be taken from each home territory.
Similar to the ashes in cricket, the most important international prize in bull riding will become the dirt from each country, making the symbolism of common native soil an object of national pride and a coveted prize worth more than money alone.
A $750,000 prize purse makes Global Cup the sport’s second highest-paying event next to the PBR World Finals in Las Vegas. But perhaps the greater prize is the coveted PBR Global Cup trophy.
The Global Cup trophy is the centerpiece of the tournament. It is comprised of five individual pieces. Shaped like bull horns, they represent each participating country, while simultaneously symbolizing the unified spirit of competition.
However, unlike other trophies, these removable pieces are actually vessels designed to hold the respective country’s native dirt.
Every Global Cup opening ceremony will begin with the host country’s riders depositing dirt into their piece of the trophy. From there, the battle lines are drawn and the stage is set to determine who will reclaim the dirt at the conclusion of the event.
The PBR Global Cup is the ultimate bucking battle for the team’s country and quite literally, home dirt.
